How many lengths will this room take?

Enter the room, or the run you measured, take the door openings out and add an allowance for offcuts. The answer is a number of 3 m lengths to order. It is an estimate for budgeting and ordering — not a quotation.

SK-045 · 45 × 7 mm
Length to cover

For a rectangular room the perimeter is (width + length) × 2.

Fill this in and it replaces the room above — for rooms that are not rectangles, or when only some walls are being finished.

Door openings

The width of each opening is taken off the length to cover.

Offcut allowance

For mitres, bad cuts and the end of each length. A room with several corners or a column wants 15% or more.

The unit

Why the answer is lengths, not metres

Everything is stocked as a 3 m length. A shorter piece is still cut from a whole one, and a few things take more than one length per set.

What this figure does not account for

  • Mitres. Every corner eats a little extra; a room with several corners or a column wants 15% or more.
  • Walls you cannot join across. A 3.2 m wall takes two lengths even though 2.8 m is left over — this total assumes offcuts get used on another wall.
  • One model and one colour at a time. A room taking both skirting and cornice, or two finishes, has to be worked out once for each: an offcut of one does not cover the other.
  • Delivery, which is free nationwide during the launch promotion.
  • The price shown is today's price for the model and colour you picked.
  • All of it is an estimate for budgeting and ordering. It is not a quotation.
